The city of San Cristóbal de Las Casas is a Magical Town located in the State of Chiapas in Mexico, it was one of the first cities built in Spanish North America (in the year 1528).
For various reasons it has had at least ten different names, remaining with that of “San Cristóbal” in honor of the patron saint of travelers, and “de las Casas” by Fray Bartolomé de las Casas. He was the first bishop in the city and fought to abolish the slavery of the natives.
The incredible layout of its streets, like its main buildings, plus the preservation of a traditional life have earned San Cristobal de las Casas the recognition of the Magic Town.
The gastronomy of the City is especially delicious and colorful. Colonial and other dishes combined with the pre-Hispanic cuisine of Chiapas are preserved.
Today it is one of the most beautiful cities in Mexico and Central America, due to the colonial image that it has preserved in its historic center over the centuries. Because it also has a traditional daily life, with its market and its people, there come the Tzotziles, the Tzeltals, Mámes, Tojolabales, Lacandones, Quiche Mayas and others, with their colorful clothes, coming from different communities to sell or exchange their products .
